Summer travel and the start to a new school year for our children kept our family busy and new paintings developed in sweet little pockets of time. Now that our daughters are off and running in their routine, I’ve been busy creating new work and preparing for an exciting upcoming exhibition:
Group Exhibition at Portland Art Gallery: November 1st-30th, 2024
Opening Reception: November 7th, 5:00-7:00pm
154 Middle Street
Portland, Maine 04101
USA
If you haven’t visited, Portland Art Gallery, it is a bright, spacious gallery encompassing two connected gallery rooms. As you enter the first gallery room, you’ll find one piece created by each represented artist and a monthly artist-curated exhibition of several works. The second gallery room encompasses three additional monthly artist-curated exhibitions of several works. Opening receptions for featured artists are held on the first Thursday of the month from 5 – 7 pm. These openings are consistently well-attended for good reason – each featured artists speaks about their work on mic, often live music is performed and there’s always a tantalizing offering of local snacks, wines and ciders. The atmosphere is casual, elegant and inviting…I highly recommend attending!
Here is a beautiful description provided by the gallery: “Located in the heart of Portland’s historic Old Port district, the Portland Art Gallery is one of the premier destinations for art collectors in Maine and across the United States. The gallery occupies over 3000 square feet of display space and proudly represents more than sixty established and emerging artists, including Maine-based talents and select artists from across the country. Their extensive inventory features several hundred available paintings online for at-home viewing, with new works added daily. The professionally trained staff at the Portland Art Gallery are available on-site every day from 10 am to 5:30 pm, and they are also responsive 24/7 to inquiries from art collectors in any time zone.” I am presently curating the following available pieces to fill 560 inches of this gorgeous gallery. Comment below which pieces you’d like to see in the gallery most!
During a recent visit to Portland Art Gallery, I photographed each painting on the gallery walls. I’m now in the process of curating which pieces I’ll display for my upcoming exhibition beginning November 1st. Comment or email which of the following pieces would you most like to see exhibited?:
